Art Souterrain presents

Rock/Paper/Scissors (2014)
Installation

The installation Rock/Paper/Scissors talks about the unpredictability of human beings and the innocence of their actions, as guided by their instincts. The rock becomes the raised fist, an expression of revolt. The paper becomes the Roman salute, a symbol of loyalty and servitude. The scissors become the V sign, a gesture of victory, peace and love.

Collective intervention workshop for the large audience

Presented by Manif d’art in collaboration with Bibliothèque de Québec

During the biennial, come meet the Manif d’art team at the esplanade de la bibliothèque Gabrielle-Roy to create a dynamic collective artwork ! Leave an inspired trace !

With stencils of various shapes, participants are invited to paint on the pavement outside the library, with washable paint. Each participant must trace a new shape right against those already painted, to create a massive collective mosaic that will take over the space. All along the workshop, photographers will document the intervention, featuring participants on the pavements among the new shapes.

Saturdays, May 10, 17, 24, 31 and June 7

Ongoing activity

Thierry Arcand-Bossé (Québec, Canada)

Tire. Parle pas. (2014)
Painting

In his most recent paintings, Thierry Arcand-Bossé has developed an iconography that draws profusely from cinema, art history and the Internet clutter. Shots are coming from every direction. Still, the artist refuses the hierarchy of subjects, giving each of them an equal load of ambivalence. His paintings tell the mundane yet frightful story of our time.

CIRCONVOLUTION CIRCONLOCUTION (2013)
Installative sculpture

This installation creates a normative discrepancy with two artistic worlds that rarely collide. It is an intrusion of the language of public art in a “fringe” gallery. Ignoring the gallery standards, Ludovic Boney questions the systematic acceptance of the institutions’ restrictive, if not frustrating requirements.

Plat de résistance (2014)

Installation and food

Plat de résistance is the meeting between contemporary art and culinary art. The two artists will respectively produce artworks and dishes that echo with each other in their colors and formal organisation. Le Tiers Temps will be transformed by their sculptural and installative interventions. A dish created with the essence of that dialogue will be on its menu at all times.

See details about the five course contemporary and culinary art Dinner.
