Espace QUATRE CENTS

February 28 – April 20, 2025

February 28 – April 20, 2025, Manif d’art’s Jardin d’hiver invites you to a remarkable artistic experience in the heart of Québec’s winter. This year’s edition explores the theme The Echo of Tales, curated by Julia Caron Guillemette. Visitors will have the chance to discover two parallel exhibitions, both captivating and complementary.

Group Exhibition: Echo of Tales

This edition features a collective exhibition at Espace Quatre Cents, bringing together five artists from the public art program: Gabrielle Lajoie-Bergeron, Skawennati, Jiwan Larouche, Jean Michel René, and Magali Hébert-Huot. Through a collection of twenty works, these artists reinterpret the storytelling tradition through the lens of contemporary art. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in a world where each piece tells a story, whether as a visual narrative, a metaphor, or an invitation to dream.

Retrospective Exhibition: Cooke-Sasseville: Against All Odds

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the irreverent Québec City artist-duo Cooke-Sasseville. To celebrate this career milestone, Manif d’art will present a survey exhibition of their work titled Against all Odds at Espace Quatre Cents, which will run concurrently with the Winter Garden. The exhibition will bring together roughly twenty works that are the essence of Cooke-Sasseville – a blend of wonder and absurdity, with a hint of dark humour.

A single admission ticket grants access to both exhibitions, offering a unique opportunity to discover thought-provoking and inspiring works. Don’t miss this double artistic immersion at Espace Quatre Cents!

PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN TICKETING

Manif d’art is known for pushing the boundaries of visual arts presentation, creating unique opportunities for artistic expression. Far from being exclusive or elitist, Jardin d’hiver is designed for everyone, with a special emphasis on families. In its ongoing commitment to making art and culture accessible and inclusive, Manif d’art has introduced a pay-what-you-can ticketing system.

Inspired by Winnipeg’s Théâtre Cercle Molière, this model allows visitors to pay according to their financial means. Ticket prices range from $0 to $30, with a standard rate of $15. Similar to the "suspended coffee" concept, visitors also have the option to cover the cost of admission for someone who may not otherwise be able to afford it.
