JULIA CARON GUILLEMETTE

Julia Caron Guillemette is an independent curator, author and art historian based in Quebec City. She is interested in current indigenous artistic practices and their reception, as well as in notions of identity, gender, environment and feminism emerging from various contemporary practices. Coordinator of the Centre d'artistes Ahkwayaonhkeh, she has been assistant artistic director of Manif d'art, curator-educator at the Musée d'art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul and cultural mediator at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. She holds a master's degree in art history from Université Laval, and has published widely, notably with Vie des arts, esse and Inter. She is co-curator of Ostentation (2022), an exhibition at VU and Ahkwayaonhekh (2025), and curator of the fourth edition of the Winter Garden and an exhibition at the Musée d'art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul (2025).
