Québec City, April 17, 2003 — The team of the Manifestation internationale d’art de Québec is proud to present the second edition of the Manif d’art. This biannual event dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of contemporary art will take place from May 1 to 31, 2003 in several locations in and around the Saint-Roch district. Developed in partnership with 23 collaborators, the Manif d’art is a unifying event whose recurrence allows Québec City to position itself on the international contemporary art circuit.
Built around the theme Happiness and Pretence, this year’s programme brings together more than 70 artists from Québec, Canada, the United States, Chili and Europe. Numerous activities addressing a large public have been grafted onto the various exhibitions, including a colloquium, creative workshops for young people, a video and film programme, lunch-hour rendez-vous with artists, dance recitals, an international exhibition of mail-art, etc. The artists’ presence at the beginning of the event promotes exchange among
creators, the public at large and the media. Welcome to this second edition of the Manif d’art.
