Québec City, Tuesday, April 6, 2010 – For its fifth edition, the Manif d’art is presenting, from May 1 to June 13, 2010, in addition to its main exhibition and 12 collaborator exhibitions, more than a dozen satellite activities.
For a month and a half, visual art and culture buffs will be busy. This year, there’s something for everyone at the Manif d’art. Film lovers can take advantage of the “Vision of chaos’ experimental film program presented by Antitube. Fans of action art and performance can look forward to the launch of the 105th issue of Inter, art actuel, dealing with the implantation of the performative in several areas of human activity. The collective ‘Accident“ is proposing a body of original work by emerging artists from Québec while the Morgan Bridge Gallery, in the same vein, is presenting up-and-coming artist Alexandre Lemay.
As part of the regular programming, the satellite activities will make the month of May and June a race to conquer catastrophe. A series of live broadcasts on CKRL radio, a roundtable organized by the Regroupement des artistes en arts visuels du Québec, a South-American presence in three libraries run by Institut Canadien de Québec, a Brazilian participation at Galerie Tzara, soundscapes by the collective Jump Ship Rat—the counterpart of an exchange with the Liverpool Biennial—multiple creation workshops produced by AutocART in several city boroughs and a conference by the director of the Brazilian Vento Sul biennial are some of the activities proposed.
