Le Diamant, mur extérieur

Méandre, 2022, site-specific photography installation

For her project displayed on the concrete side wall of Le Diamant, Caroline Cloutier has added false photoengraved windows that appear and disappear like optical illusions, depending on light and shadow. These faux architectural details represent life-size relief images of the plans for a façade developed in 1878 for the old YMCA by Joseph-Ferdinand Peachy but never built. For the duration of the Biennial, this ghost wall provides glimpses into an imaginary, labyrinthine space inside the theatre.
