Vitrine/Galerie de Manif d’art

Untitled (Cube, Cylinder, Pyramid), 2019, sculptures.

Partheniou’s sculpture installations deconstruct daily objects using hyperrealist trompe-l’œil and material puns. Untitled (Cube, Cylinder, Pyramid) makes use of the blurred boundaries between exhibition space and storefront. Although the objects appear to be made of assorted materials, the artist has in fact sculpted each imitation cardboard, glass, and metal piece from painted and lacquered wood. Partheniou thus deploys the rhetorical strategies of illusory replica, play of perception, and symbolic association, urging us to take a closer look.

Manif d’art and the artist would like to thank Galerie MKG127, Matthew Varey, and Dave Dyment.
