Marie-Andrée Gill

Marie-Andrée Gill’s story takes us into a parallel universe, where our famous Céline, who in this case is Ilnu rather than non-native, decides to leave the city to go live in the forest. Through collaged excerpts from Georges-Hébert Germain’s biography of Céline Dion, we follow Céline’s journey, which is illustrated with LEGO assemblages. Gill offers a vision of decolonization through her poems, which are grounded in orality and tinged with humour. Drawn into her tale, we momentarily escape the city and, just like Céline, reconnect with the land.
This project was made possible through the financial support of Entente MCC-Ville.
