Abdelmalik Berhiss’s artistic universe

Born in the Essaouira region and part of the Amazigh Chiadma tribe, Berhiss creates pointillist paintings filled with meanders and winding patterns.
His canvases are animated by bright colors, giving life to monsters and chimeras.
Drawing inspiration from:

  • Amazigh crafts,

  • Atlas rock engravings,

  • and Islamic architecture,
he unveils labyrinthine visions that invite viewers on an inner and spiritual journey toward the origins of the world.

An international collaboration

This residency is presented in collaboration with the Ifitry Center (Morocco) and Chiguer Art Contemporain, in partnership with Manif d’art – the Québec City biennial.
It reflects Manif d’art’s mission to promote dialogue between cultures and to create innovative platforms for contemporary art.
